Chris Evans Directing Romance '1:30 Train' Before 'Avengers: Age Of Ultron'

Chris Evans might not know who Ultron   is, but the "Avengers" star has certainly seen "Before Sunrise." According to Deadline.com, Evans will make his directorial debut with "1:30 Train," a romance about "two strangers who meet in Manhattan and spend one night together." The great Ron Bass ("Rain Man," "My Best Friend's Wedding," "When A Man Loves A Woman") wrote the script.

For Evans, it would provide an opportunity to do an indie film before heading into the madness that is "The Avengers: Age of Ultron."

"The process of making the film is what I love -- more than the final product," Evans told Moviefone in 2011. "The problem with big tent-pole movies is that you spend six hours of your day in a trailer. That's a lot of hurry up and wait. You might get through two pages of dialogue in a day. [On indies] you are going to get through eight pages of dialogue in a day. You go home and you're like, I made a movie today. I made a movie. I acted in a film. I was hired to perform a service and I had to be on my toes and I had to perform well today.'"

Chris Evans Talks Favorite Childhood Superhero

Before donning the red, white and blue shield for Captain America, Chris Evans had affection for another Marvel superhero in primary colors.

"I loved Spider-Man!" Evans told ET's Rocsi Diaz at Comic-Con. The actor went on to reveal that, if given the choice, he might opt for Spider-Man's web-slinging abilities over Captain America's super-soldier serum.

"The shooting and the climbing -- that's pretty cool," Evans said.

But while Spider-Man might have a leg up on his superpowers, Captain America seems to have a more suitable outfit.

"I don't want to be in a mask," said Evans. "I get claustrophobic."

In Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Steve Rogers finds himself teaming up with Black Widow to fight an enemy in present-day Washington, D.C. The 32-year-old action star went on to explain the difference between this Captain America versus older versions.

"In this movie, we're kind of addressing his acclimation with how the world is right now," said Evans, who explained that '40s villains were easier to spot. Nowadays Captain America has to use more discernment when it comes to deciding who's good and who's bad, which brings added conflict to the flick.

"We live in a day where you can go online and look up how to make a bomb," said Evans. "And with that freedom comes a certain amount of compromise in terms of your privacy and your civil liberties, and I think it's a question of how far you can take that."

Captain America: The Winter Soldier opens April 4, 2014.

San Diego Comic-Con hosts stars Chris Evans, Hugh Jackman, Tom Cruise

Every year, Comic-Con is eagerly anticipated by TV, movie, and comic buffs around the globe. It draws huge crowds of excited fans, many of whom go the extra mile and come prepared in full costume to catch a glimpse of some of their favorite actors and superheroes.

IGN.com has done a line-up of their most anticipated events of the convention, and being the expert source on all things delightfully nerdy, one would do well to share in their anticipation.

To kick off the list, IGN open with the Marvel showcase. Marvel has been a showrunner at Comic-Con for years now, with the advent of comic adaptation movies in popular culture. Expected to be shown at this year’s Marvel panels are ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and “Thor: The Dark World”, both sequels to previous Marvel movies.

In addition to the existing Marvel film franchises, there is hope for announcements on potential future productions from the studio such as “Doctor Strange” and “Black Panther”.

Next on the list come the Sony panels, which will include the “Amazing Spiderman” sequel with Andrew Garfield reprising his role as Spiderman and Jamie Foxx and Paul Giamatti as Electro and Rhino, respectively. Sony will also be showcasing their “RoboCop” reboot with the stars Joel Kinnarman, Abbie Cornish, and Samuel L. Jackson attending panel talks.

Also coming to Comic-Con will be Universal Pictures, which will be showing off the new additions to two of their franchises with Kick-Ass 2 and Riddick. Kick-Ass 2 stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the titular character and Jim Carrey as a new hero, Colonel Stars and Stripes. Riddick is a sequel to The Chronicles of Riddick, starring Vin Diesel, Katee Sackhoff and Dave Bautista, all of whom will be in attendance for a panel presentation.

20th Century Fox will have a panel as well, clocking in just before Marvel’s presentation on Saturday. Not wanting to be outshone by Marvel, Fox will feature both The Wolverine, Hugh Jackman’s newest installation in the franchise, as well as Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which stars Gary Oldman and Jason Clarke. Plus, there are rumors circulating that Fox has a ‘big surprise’ planned for their presentation. What that may be has yet to be seen.

Tom Cruise will also be on site to promote his upcoming sci-fi movie “Edge of Tomorrow”, which takes a sort of Groundhog Day-esque approach to a futuristic battlefield.

Minka Kelly Steps Out With Chris Evans, Holds Captain America Phone Case

She's proud and patriotic! Minka Kelly is so supportive of her boyfriend Chris Evans that she has a Captain America iPhone cover. The Butler actress, 33, showed off her latest tech accessory during a movie date with Evans, 32, at ArcLight Cinemas in L.A. on Friday, July 5. The couple dressed casually for the outing, wearing jeans, sneakers and T-shirts.

"The two of them really compliment each other," a source tells Us Weekly of the actors, who briefly dated in 2007 before reconnecting last summer. "Chris is much more of a homebody now and doesn't really go out. Same goes for Minka. Things are going really well with them."

Though Evans bought a house in the Hollywood Hills for $3.52 million in May, another insider says Kelly is not moving in. Even so, his on-again love "is helping a lot with all the decorating details." The insider adds that stars are "still really serious" about each other.

Evans has spent his summer shooting Captain America: The Winter Soldier, costarring Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Robert Redford, Sebastian Stan, Cobie Smulders, Anthonie Mackie and Emily VanCamp. Kelly, meanwhile, next appears in the sci-fi series Almost Human, premiering Nov. 4 on FOX.

Guilt Complex? Hollywood Prepping More Anti-Rich Movies

Actor Chris Evans of The Avengers fame is richer than most. The handsome star is part of two major Marvel franchises--the aforementioned super-group series as well as Captain America.

 by Christian Toto ,

He recently plunked down $3.52 million for a nearly 4,600 square foot estate in Hollywood Hills, according to the May 27 issue of US Weekly.

Evans will soon be seen in Snowpiercer, Hollywood's latest film demonizing the rich. The movie is set in a future where the well-to-do live in a posh portion of a train circling our doomed planet while the poor are left to a bleak compartment.

Evans isn't alone in picking projects that trash people with bank accounts just like theirs. Plenty of uber-rich stars are eager to do just the same. Consider In Time, the 2011 sci-fi film featuring Justin Timberlake where the affluent live indefinitely by paying for minutes of life, while the poor never get a chance to climb the social ladder.
Next month, Matt Damon (who recently put his Miami home up for sale for $20 million) and Jodie Foster (selling her longtime home for more than $6 million) bring wealth bashing to potentially new highs with Elysium, the latest "socially conscious" project from director Neill Blomkamp of District 9 fame. It's plot essentially mirrors that of Snowpiercer, with a 99 percent type (Damon) trying to break into the world of the oppressive rich and famous (epitomized by Foster's character).

The irony, of course, is that these actors all live in a country where social mobility attracts immigrants the world over, and the ability to rise up the social ladder remains a key part of the American dream. Plus, the gap between the rich and the poor has widened in recent years under President Barack Obama's stewardship, the same leader the entertainment community did all it could to re-elect ignoring his economic policies.

So why would an Evans, Damon or Foster choose such projects? Does it come down to guilt, the need to spread the wealth on film while living in massive homes separated from their previous middle class lives?

No matter the psychology behind it, it's hard not to predict more films like Snowpiercer are coming our way.

'Snowpiercer' Trailer: Chris Evans Fights for His Rights in Sci-Fi Thriller

In "Snowpiercer," scientists' attempts to stop global warming have backfired and caused another ice age, which has destroyed society as we know it. The catastrophe's survivors ride the eponymous train -- a train segregated by class -- around the world again and again.

Tilda Swinton puts on some fancy clothes and funky makeup to play Mason, the representative of the Richie Riches of what's left of the world. She'll be going head to head with Chris Evans, who plays a guy named Curtis who's planning to fight his way to the front of the train and help out his fellow humans. Let's be real; things are looking bleak for Mason and her cohorts.

This is director Bong Joon-ho's first English-language film, and it's adapted from the graphic novel "Le Transperceneige," by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette. Fans of Joon-ho's films like "Thirst" and "The Host" will spot Song Kang-ho as a mysterious dude whom Curtis turns to for help. Kang-ho also appeared in "The Good, the Bad, the Weird," "Secret Sunshine," and "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance."

The rest of the cast includes Alison Pill, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, and Octavia Spencer. "Snowpiercer" is one of the more exciting sci-fi films coming out in the near future, especially given Joon-ho's genre credentials and unique vision.
